I’m originally from White Bear Lake, MN. I moved to Winona, MN, to complete my undergraduate degree, and I completed my B.A. in English at Winona State University. I then earned a Master of Arts in International Business (MIB) from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota (SMU). While obtaining my MIB degree, I worked in the corporate world as a proposal writer. During the 2010-11 school year I participated in an Americorps Minnesota Reading Corps program where I tutored students in reading. I found that I loved working with students, so I decided to pursue a teaching degree. I completed my Master of Arts in Instruction at SMU in 2012. I've taught several courses as an adjunct instructor at SMU since then, and I also teach two Concurrent Enrollment courses at the high school in conjunction with Minnesota State College Southeast. In addition, I was a member of the Minnesota Department of Education's English Language Arts Standards Committee during the 2019-20 school year. I am also the National Honor Society advisor at LAHS.
