Anthony Johanson, 8-12 Spanish
Anthony Johanson
My name is Tony Johanson and I am excited for the opportunity to continue teaching Spanish here at Lewiston-Altura High School.

I am originally from Rochester, MN--I graduated from John Marshall High School, and then went on to continue my education at St. Cloud State University. Before graduating in 2014 and receiving my Bachelor of Science in Spanish Education I had the opportunity to put my language skills to the test while studying abroad in Concepción, Chile.

After receiving my degree, I taught at Albert Lea High School for 3.5 years-- here I gained experience teaching Spanish levels 1, 2, & 3, advised an environmental group, and co-chaperoned a trip to Costa Rica.

At the end of the 2017-2018 school year I decided I wanted to change things up, and joined the Peace Corps as an environmental conservation volunteer in Paraguay. I served in Paraguay for 18 of the scheduled 27 months (September 2018- March 2020) before being evacuated due to COVID-19-- which brought me back to the Rochester area once again.

Outside of teaching I enjoy traveling, reading, hiking, nature photography, and (obviously) learning about new cultures and languages. I hope to instill the same interest in my students and peers while teaching at Lewiston-Altura High School this year.

Here is to a great year!
