L-A/R-P Cross Country Team Rules

  1. Be on time and ready to practice.
  2. Excused absence-athlete must talk to the coaches in advance {except emergencies}.
  3. Two unexcused absences and the athlete will not be able to compete at the next meet.
  4. Courtesy and respect is to be shown at all times to other athletes, officials and coaches. If not an athlete may be dismissed from the team. Foul language will not be tolerated.
  5. A positive and respectful attitude, following coach's directions is expected on every athlete each day of practice and at the meets.
  6. Athletes must keep the locker room clean. Keep your clothes and equipment locked.
  7. We ask of you, what you ask of us: 100 percent effort, both on the cross country course and in the class room.
  8. Decisions about who will run varsity is entirely at the discretion of the coaches. Head to head competition, work ethic in practice and attendance may affect our decision as to who will run varsity from meet to meet.
  9. Before leaving practice shake the coach's hands.
  10. Student’s athletes may ride home with their parents after the meet. The parents need to a sign a form indicating that they will be giving their child a ride home. If the student/athlete is riding home with anyone other than his/her parent, this will need to be approved by the AD or Principal prior to the meet.
  11. If you are sick and you come to school late you will not be able to practice or compete in a meet that day.
  12. The Student athlete will need to demonstrate the ability to run for 30 minutes without stopping before he/she will be able to run in a JV/V meet.

Lettering Requirements

Point System
»single letter points are earned through meet and/or practice
performances

»minimum) of 10 points are required
»non-Letter winners accumulated points apply to the following season.

Point Options
1. Athletes must have a minimum of 100 officially logged practice miles to qualify for 1 point for each subsequent 100 miles. Guys will earn 1 point for each subsequent 150 miles

2. Meets

» 1 point for each varsity race

» 3 points for the conference meet

» 5 points for the section meet

» 1 point for each JV runner with a time faster than a varsity runner

3. Optional points

» 1 point for the B honor roll

» 2 points for the A honor roll

» 1 point for attending a running camp

 

4. Coaches decision on all lettering is final
