COURSE DESCRIPTION
This class is designed as a basic introduction to metals. Through the use of a textbook, workbook, classroom demonstrations, and hands-on experiences students will gain a basic knowledge of the safe and proper use of metal, metal working machines, and tools. . Students will be required to pass safety test before using the equipment.

 
COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • Students will be aware of careers available in the metals industry.
  • Students will learn some basic information about metals and their properties.
  • Students will learn how to complete a sheet metal project safely using the proper tools and machines.
  • Students will learn how to complete a foundry project safely.
  • Students will learn how to use a milling machine safely.
  • Students will learn how to use a metal lathe safely.

COURSE LENGTH
This class will meet for one full block per day for one quarter or ½ block for a semester.
